FAQ

Can the owner stay/help/watch during the grooming process?

Due to pets getting distracted when their owners are present, we highly advise against anyone staying while their pet is being groomed.  We do not allow customers to help or have any sort of hands on interactions with their pet while we are working on them. We also ask that you do not speak to your pet while we are working with them to avoid any distractions. To ensure the safety of your pet, if they becomes too distracted we will have to either ask you to step out or end the grooming process.

How long does the grooming process take?

On average, we are able to get pets back to their owners within 3-4 hours. We go at each pets pace therefore, some pets may be in our care for longer periods of time. Some pets require breaks in order to lessen their stress or give their bodies a rest during their groom. We do offer express grooms at an additional cost of $25+ This will ensure your pet does not have any kennel time and is worked on start to finish without breaks.

WE ARE NOT A ONE-ON-ONE SALON. THEREFORE, PLEASE BE SURE TO LET YOUR STYLIST KNOW AT DROP OFF IF YOU NEED YOUR PET BACK BY A CERTAIN TIME. IF A TIME IS NOT GIVEN, YOUR PET MAY BE AT THE SALON FOR MOST OF THE DAY. WE DO OFFER AFTERNOON APPOINTMENTS TO HELP LESSEN THE TIME YOUR PET SPENDS IN THE SALON. PET'S UNABLE TO HANDLE AN ALL DAY STAY DUE TO HEALTH OR ANXIETY CONCERNS WILL BE COMPLETED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

How often should my pet be groomed?

We recommend pets are groomed no less than every 6-8 weeks. Doodles should be kept on a 4-6 week schedule. Your pet should also be brushed regularly at home in between appointments in order to keep their hair tangle-free.

How often should my pet be brushed?

We recommend pets are brushed at least a few times per week although, daily is ideal. You will need to use a firm slicker brush AND a fine tooth greyhound comb. Be sure to brush each section all the way to the skin. Most matting occurs due to owners 1.) not brushing often enough and 2.) not using the proper brushing techniques and only brushing the top layer of hair.

What happens if I'm late dropping my pet off?

How will I know my pet is ready to be picked up?

We will call or text you when your pet is ready for pick up. To ensure the safety of each pet, we ask you do not come into the salon before an employee has notified you of your pet being complete. Due to how excited pets get when they see their owners, arriving before your pet is complete may result in us not being able to complete the groom.

What vaccines are required?

Per Maryland law, we require all pets to be current on their Rabies vaccines. Although it is highly recommended they are also current on Bordetella and Distemper Vaccines as well as on a flea and tick preventative.

Does my pet have to spend time in a kennel?

In order to keep everyone safe, we do require every pet to be kenneled while in our care. We do offer Express Services for an additional $25+ fee. Express Services ensure your pet will not spend any time in a kennel. Express Services must be requested at the time of scheduling.

What payments do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards as well as Venmo (@shaggychictimonium) and ApplePay.

When do I have to pick my pet up by?

We open at 9am Monday-Friday and operate by appointment only. We ask that you come within an hour of your pets groom being completed, but we understand people work and some pets may need to stay the day with us. This is perfectly fine! Just let an employee know when you schedule your appointment. All pets must be picked up no later than 5pm. If you arrive after 5pm a daycare fee of $1 per minute will be added to your total bill. Our staff has small children that must be picked up from daycare. Therefore, If you do not arrive by 5:15pm your pet will be set up for overnight boarding and a $55 boarding fee will apply in addition to the service fees and daycare fee  for time up until 5:15pm.

Does my pet get a potty break?

We do have a grassy area at the back of the building where we are able to take pets for a potty break during the day.
